The manufacturers of low-cost LED bulbs all the time cheat. The testing standard for the lifespan measurement is down to 70% unique brightness, but if the bulb is tested both as an "indicator" or a "decorative" light, then it will probably go all the way down to 50% brightness and you don’t need to disclose that on the packaging. Many of the bulbs which can be made to imitate common lightbulbs are "decorative". 70% is the restrict as a result of humans are unhealthy at judging brightness levels straight, since the eye quickly adjusts to gentle falling on it. In absolute terms, there might be an enormous difference between the old and the new bulb, however you don’t simply notice the distinction. One way to test absolute brightness is to face two of the same bulbs in direction of one another and put a sheet of baking paper in between. You can then transfer the paper to see from both facet where the other mild stops shining by way of. If it’s not symmetric, you know which bulb is dimmer.
